BBM: What sparked the idea of NYC Live @ NYFW?

William Reid: The idea for “NYC Live! @ Fashion Week” started back in late 2014, when I felt as though it was time for a change in the way I went about handling Fashion Week events in my hometown of New York City. Up until that point in time, I was always seen as one of the main persons on the scene at model castings, designer fittings, and the day of shows, which were being produced and/or covered by my colleagues within the fashion industry circles I’ve been apart of for many years, both here in America, and abroad. That being said, I came to the conclusion that it was indeed my time to launch my very own fashion showcase. One which I could actually determine the overall flow and direction of the brand on a global scale. From the type of fashion designers that I wanted to feature, to the model casting selection process, and eventually to the type of marketing/advertisement and press/media team coverage before, during, and after. As an individual whom has seen all types of things in this business growing up, these areas of great interest were, and still are, of significant importance to me.  So, on Friday, February 13th, 2015, our inaugural season took place during the 2015 NBA All-Star Weekend, at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Times Square, in New York City.

BBM: Your most recent fashion show in New York City was on Valentine’s Day. Was there a concept behind choosing that particular day?

William Reid: As for the reason(s) behind the decision to host our NYC Live! @ Fashion Week event on Valentine’s Day. Well, for starters, I’ve always been a firm believer of romanticizing the look of fashion with the right type of mixture of great-looking people, great-looking clothes, and, of course, a great-looking audience to watch it all unfold before its very eyes. So, for me, having already done two seasons on Valentine’s Day was a better choice to do a showcase in February, as opposed to any other day of the week.

BBM: You chose the 4 West 43rd venue, which was an ideal venue for your production team and designers. What makes the 4 West 43rd venue a perfect venue for NYC Live?

William Reid: Ah, yes! Good question. I came across the venue location of 4 W 43rd, after speaking to a co-worker of mine one day back in mid December of 2016. At that time, I was literally in search for a more fashion-forward venue to host my 3rd Season for February 14th, 2017.  After taking the initiative to call the venue, and reach the person that I was referred to me by a co-worker, one great phone conversation with 4 W 43’s Event Director,

Miguel Consoro, led to me being invited by him to stop by for a site-visit that week, which was right around the week before Christmas Day. From that initial meeting with

Mr. Consoro, I was immediately recognized by him, as having been seen by him at this venue in previous years as an attendee at different events. Afterward a few familiar mentions of various persons that we knew had mutual friendships with, along with sharing my unique vision of NYC Live! @ Fashion Week.
